Oklahoma! – Dorset Players | More Theatre Talk

The Dorset Players are presenting Oklahoma May 17 to May 26. Bob and I had the pleasure of interviewing Susan Dorgeloh, the producer and director; Kelly Gaiotti, the choreographer, and three members of the cast, Josh Bond (Curly) . Danielle Houston (Laurey), and Caren McVicker (Aunt Eller). This musical which opened on Broadway 76 years ago transformed the American musical. Unlike most musicals of the time, in Oklahoma the music and dance were integrated into the “book” and moved the action along. The musical was a sensation and started Rodgers and Hammerstein on their long and successful collaboration. With a cast of twenty-four, the Dorset Players production is is an ambitious project for a community theatre. However, The Dorset Players produce wonderful musicals as Bob and I can testify, having enjoyed them over the years.. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to see an outstanding musical at a reasonable price.
